Richard Dean Murrison was born to William (Bill) Murrison and Audrey Evelyn Shearrer, January 28, 1948 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Great Bend, Kan.
Audrey Murrison married Jimmie Edward Bridges April 30, 1950 at Pony Rock, Kan. While living in Larned, Kan., Audrey and Jim, as he was known, raised three boys at the Larned Ice Plant where they made their living.
Richard was married 52 years to Sheila Ritter Murrison. He married the love of his life on April 19, 1969. Richard had two brothers who proceeded him in death, Donnie Lee Murrison and Larry Wayne Murrison and also his parents and his brother-in-law Dwayne Hoppes, Warner (Sonny) Ritter, Steven Braden and two great-grandsons Jason and Damion Murrison, a niece Andrea Dawn Hoppes and a nephew Steven Keith Braden Jr.
Richard is leaving his wife, Sheila; three children Scott Murrison and wife Sarah of Stroud, Mone’ica Slane and husband Uel of Henryetta, Okla., and Dakota Murrison of Weleetka, Okla. Richard’s grandsons Treven Colt Murrison and Jaxon Carter Murrison; and granddaughters Phelecia Redman and husband Will, Madison Page Murrison, Kyla Rigsbee and husband David; great grandchildren Jace and Amiah Rose Redman, Easton Blaze Pratt, Grady, Rhealeigh and Blanyne Rigsbee. Richard is leaving behind brother and sisters-in-law Robbie Ritter Hoppes, Judy Ritter Haubert and husband Richard, Betty Ritter Carroll and husband Jerry, Ramona Ritter Braden, Randy Ritter and wife Tannya and Lana Kay Smith Ritter. He also leaves behind four extended grandchildren Ashley Billings, Brooke Robinson, Hayden Parker Hughes and Sarah Hughes and one God Son, Brandon Malicoate.
Richard had several jobs in his lifetime, but his first love was the horses he rode as a jockey and those he managed on Brood Mare Farms. Richard also worked for Schwan’s Ice Cream where he made many lifelong friends.
To all that are present, Richard would want you to do as Richard has done and that is to turn your life over to Jesus.
