Prairie Pointe Happenings

Resident Keturah Brown’s family presented her with a book for journaling.

On each page, the various family members had written questions and left space for her answers. She has worked on it for some time. I got a peek at it before it left the building and what a treasure!

Questions ranged from what was it like to have three brothers serving in World War II and how did your mother cope to how did the “Gopher Girls” get started to what is the most important thing you’ve learned about love to what is your favorite joke?

(To Hazel Standridge students--try to diagram that sentence.)

The stories this journal now contains are priceless and will bring tears of joy, laughter and poignant memories for generations.

Joe Bill Shelhope surprised Prairie Pointe with home grown sweet potatoes and they were delicious. Something about fresh from the garden produce that just can’t be beat.

Rae Bland’s message Sunday was “Unanswered Prayers.” Various residents read scriptures referring to answers to obstacles for having prayers answered.

We were reminded that God answers yes, no, or wait! The gathering was dismissed in prayer.

As the holidays approach, we are nostalgic about the gatherings we have hosted at Prairie Pointe in years past for Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and especially the weekly church services.

All of these events have been put on hold for the time being thanks to COVID-19 or as it’s known around my house, “The Rona”.

Everyone at Prairie Pointe sincerely appreciates those of you who are taking precautions–masks, hand washing and social distancing—to help curb the spread of this virus.

Our activities have been severely limited going on nine months now and we are way past ready for life to return to normal.

If we all just practice these few precautions and with a vaccine on the horizon, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

To everyone who has joined in this effort, we send a huge “Thank You“from the staff and residents at Prairie Pointe.
