The American Legion Auxiliary held its monthly meeting this past Monday evening at the American Legion building. Members attending were Cindy Mason, Julie Bivin, Linda Waller, Jo Braden, Velma Brant, Diana McGuire, Delores Hamlin and Diana Reed. The meeting was called to order by President Diana Reed. Velma Brant, Sergeant at Arms, led members in the Pledge of Allegiance and Chaplain Jo Braden offered the prayer. Treasurer Cindy Mason gave the financial report. Correspondence received from the State Auxiliary office regarding 2021 Girls State was shared with members. It stated that the weeklong event for high school junior girls will be held virtually this year. Pam Hunt, local Girls State liaison, will oversee getting applications out to prospective attendees. Delegates will be chosen by the Auxiliary. Members voted to host a come and go Valentine’s gathering for American Legion members on Monday, February 15th from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the American Legion building. Special Valentine’s day donuts will be served along with coffee and juice. All Legion members and their spouses are invited to stop by the Legion. Auxiliary members will serve as hostesses for the event. The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 1st at 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion building. Members are encouraged to attend. Anyone wishing to join the Auxiliary may join us as our guest.
