The number of deaths in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped by five again over the past week and all of those are in Pottawatomie County, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.
The latest deaths include two females in the 65 and older age group and one male in the 65 and older age group. The OSDH didn’t provide any information on the other two.
There now have been 79 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19. That number compares to 74 a week ago, OSDH figures show.
Lincoln County has 54 reported deaths, the same number it had two weeks ago.
Over the past week, the number of positive cases has risen some in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties, OSDH figures show.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County jumped by 143 in the last week and in Lincoln County they increased by 32, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests has jumped by 175 in the last seven days. The previous week that number was 113.
Lincoln County’s number this week is 3,037. A week ago it was 3,005. Two weeks ago it was 2,987 the OSDH said.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County this week stands at 7,891. Last week it was 7,748. The county’s total two weeks ago was 7,653.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 10,928.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 10,505 the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 7,607 have recovered and 2,898 have recovered in Lincoln County.
Statewide as of Tuesday, 424,999 people have tested positive, there have been 4,534 deaths and 407,934 have recovered. Active cases stand at 12,531, the OSDH reports.
Last week there were 420,212 testing positive, there had been 4,227 deaths and 401,945 had recovered. There were 14,040 active cases a week ago.
This week on Tuesday, the OSDH reported 111 new positive cases confirmed and 56 additional deaths.
The OSDH reports that 3,100,280 people have tested negative.
