The Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week adopted a resolution to facilitate a Community Development Block Grant for water and wastewater engineering.
They also took two other actions related to the possible grant.
Pat McCormick, Deputy Director of the Central Oklahoma Economic Development District (COEDD), informed the Trustees during a public hearing Monday evening the grant application is for $450,000.
“This is for Phase 1 which will be for engineering, plans and specs,” she explained.
“You have three years to get this done from the time it’s awarded and Cowan Engineering has one year to complete its work,” she added.
She advised the Trustees that COEDD will receive $25,000 for the administrative work on the grant. “Your application is due by the end of April,” she emphasized.
After the public hearing, the Trustees adopted the resolution.
They also adopted the 2021 Citizen Participation Plan for the CDBG grant and then voted to proclaim April of 2021 as Fair Housing Month by adopting a Fair Housing resolution.
In other action, the board approved the agreement and insurance between the Town of Meeker and the Meeker Little Baseball, Softball and Basketball Association.
Trustees approved a lease agreement between the Town and Meeker Growth and Development.
It’s for the old car wash property located just east of Town Hall. The motion included revisiting the agreement in October of this year.
City Hall will be open to the public again as a result of votes taken at Monday night’s meeting.
Trustees rescinded an agenda item from its Feb. 16 meeting to lock City Hall due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They then voted to unlock City Hall to the public.
And, voting 4-1, there will be no requirement of having to wear a mask/ face covering in City Hall.
Mayor Aaron Head was the only Trustee opposing that motion. Vice Mayor Jeff Wilbourn and Trustees Donna Weber, Rick Hill and Richard Coleman voted in favor of not making wearing a mask or face covering a requirement while inside City Hall.
The board also voted to reconsider the disposal of the swing set and monkey bars at Glenn Crest Park they declared as surplus items at the February meeting and decided Monday night to put those items out for public bid.
Trustees decided to set a flat $40 rental fee at the Meeker Lake Pavilion and they set the same flat price for rental of the Glenn Crest Park Pavilion.
Meeting as the Public Works Authority, they agreed to waive the late fee for Meeker Water, Sewer and Trash due to a typographical error for the month of March 2021 billing cycle.
