In mid-January the Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History in Chandler closed its doors to the public due to high Covid infection rates and to complete some much-needed renovations. Lincoln County Historical Society board members moved exhibits, ripped up old carpet, resurfaced and painted concrete, and painted walls in the main exhibit area of the museum. C&D Construction Specialists, LLC repaired an area of damaged floor and laid down new carpet and tile. This week C&D Construction Specialists, LLC will be working on repairing and repainting the front of the museum. The LCHS Board of Directors is excited to announce that the museum will be reopening to the public on April 21. Hours for the museum are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. The LCHS is a nonprofit organization. The museum operates solely from donations, fundraisers and memberships. Donations are used for general operations, displays, artifact preservation and renovations to the four 100-plus year-old buildings that house the museum. The museum includes displays on Route 66, pioneer life, Native Americans, music, communications, general store, military, doctor’s office, apartment life, Benny Kent, schoolroom, law enforcement, toys, black history, agriculture and much more. The Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History is at 719 Manvel Avenue in downtown Chandler.
