New mayor sworn in at Meeker

The Town of Meeker has a new Mayor and Vice Mayor following the Board of Trustees meeting earlier this week.

The Trustees appointed Jeff Wilbourn as the new Mayor and Donna Weber as Vice Mayor.

Wilbourn replaces Aaron Head as the mayor. Head was recently re-elected to a new four-year term on the Town Board when he ran unopposed.

Wilbourn, who had been serving as the town’s vice mayor, also won a new fouryear term to the board when he was reelected without opposition.

Billy Walker, who was recently elected to fill a two-year unexpired term without opposition, attended his first board meeting Monday night.

In other business, the Trustees opened a sealed bid of $30 from Becky Briggs for the swing set and monkey bars at Glenn Crest Park declared as surplus during their February meeting. They approved that bid.

Trustees approved two separate invoices to Bailey’s Paving, one for $48,312 on South Koonce for 900 by 22 square feet of asphalt and the other for $13,266 on North Koonce for 180 by 22 square feet of asphalt. Both invoices will be sent to the Central Oklahoma Economic Development District (COEDD) for reimbursement on the REAP grant.

They voted to take no action on the failure to decorate the town for Easter/ Spring as discussed in the meeting and minutes of Growth and Development.

Meeting as the Public Works Authority, the Trustees, without going into executive session, hired Chad Rowan as full time Public Works supervisor.
