Jason Mooy from Assembly of God brought his sons, Jason and Clayton, for church on April 18. Jason played guitar and led us in singing. He also read from 2 Corinthians and shared the problems Paul suffered while proclaiming the good news of Jesus.
Reverend Gerard and Carla Hale came from the Methodist Church for our worship and singing this past Sunday. We enjoyed having Carla here to play piano for us. Rev. Gerard quoted Psalms 23:1, then went to John 10:14 and explained that Jesus is the good shepherd who desires that all sheep become a part of His flock – desires that all accept Christ as savior.
James Green’s daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Pat Magness from Rockwall, Texas are spending a few days in Stroud. Sunday, they toured Cushing and visited relatives there. Melody always brings something yummy and she has decided we may have a few chocoholics at Prairie Pointe. Who would have guessed?
Lisa Gordon completed fire and tornado drills recently. We are happy to report everyone did great and we all know exactly what to do in case of emergency. A few years ago there was a tornado on the ground between here and Prague at about 5 AM. We got everyone in the theatre room which doubles as our safe room. It was a little hectic and some of our residents were not so happy to be awakened so abruptly so I was serving coffee to our sleepyheads. (Rachel Handley was complaining because I did not have creamer in a third arm but that’s another story.) In any event, the threat was soon over and as we returned to our rooms, I glanced out the south windows and saw two Stroud firetrucks parked in the street. If Prairie Pointe or Stroud Health Care (the nursing home) was to have taken a hit, help was right there. What a great fire department Stroud has!
We have always had a drainage problem in the backyard at Prairie Pointe. For some reason the soil just doesn’t perk here. Don McManus is installing an underground drain to hopefully correct this issue. Thank you Don for all you do!
A group from Prairie Pointe plan to attend the Stroud Arts/Stroud Chamber Mystery Dinner this Saturday. Prairie Pointe hosted a similar event a few years ago and it was great fun. We are really looking forward to a night out.
Making up for the past year, we have planned several events and excursions. Mother’s Day at Prairie Pointe will be celebrated on the Friday before with a cookout and flower planting party. Joe Navrath and the Sugar Time Band will also be here to liven things up. We are planning a Progressive Dinner in May. We will start off with hors d’oeuvres and salad at the Hodgens home in Stroud, then travel to Lanky’s Farm (Lisa and Alfred Gordon) in Kendrick for the entree and back to Prairie Pointe for dessert. May is always a busy month and we plan to enjoy it.
