Geneva Gertrude Melson was born April 26, 1922, in Midlothian, Okla. She died Friday, August 28, 2020, in Hennessey, Okla., at the age of 98 years.
Melson, the daughter of John and Martha (Reddell) Walker, married Richard E. Melson on December 19, 1940, in Bristow, Okla.
A 1941 graduate of Davenport High School, she ran a dairy farm with her husband near Chandler and was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law Gary Thornton and nine siblings.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Linda Melson of Chandler; her daughters, Phyllis Thornton of Elk City, Okla., and Martha Faye Taggart and husband Tim of Hennessey; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and other family and friends.
A graveside funeral was held Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
