Former Chandler resident Billy Ray Hoover was born May 22, 1941, in Stroud. He died Friday, March 6, 2020, at his home in Oklahoma City at the age of 78 years.
Hoover was a teacher and coach at several schools and a Chandler High School principal before working in the oil and gas business. He was a member of Epiphany of The Lord Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Orval and Madge Kathleen (Bland) Hoover and his wife, Marilyn Ann (Nondorf) Hoover.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Pam Hoover of Bristow, Okla., and Michael and Cindy Hoover of Luther, Okla.; his daughter Amanda Cromwell of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; six great-grand children; and other family and friends.
A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler with Father Anthony Ram officiating. Burial followed at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
