James Youngblood was born January 12, 1942, in McLoud, Okla., and died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, in Tulsa, Okla. He was 78 years old.

Youngblood, the son of Lorene and Myrtle (Martin) Youngblood, married Wilma Jean Seward in 1964. He later married Clorett Youngblood.

A 1960 graduate of McLoud High School, he served in the United States Army and worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver in the oilfield and for Allied Roofing in Stroud. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 23 years, Clorett; two stepbrothers and one sister.

Survivors include children, Michael Youngblood, Nathaniel Youngblood, Brenda Youngblood, Melissa Youngblood, Leo Young, Michelle Jones-Patton, Ray Helmetzi and Lela Donaldson; nine grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Okla., which handled final arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2020, at Stroud Cemetery with the Rev. C.D. Parker officiating.
