John Edward Wayland

John Edward Wayland was born on September 24, 1946 in Chandler, Okla., to Garland Wayland Sr. and Lela (Porter) Wayland. He passed from this life on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the age of 73.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He graduated from Chandler High School in 1964 and went on to complete 3 years of college before being drafted. He served 2 years in Vietnam and then joined the Oklahoma National Guard serving an additional 13 years. After leaving the guard, he became a rural mail carrier in Chandler and then Stroud. He retired from the Stroud Post Office in 2019 after 35 years. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Lela (Porter) Wayland; daughter, Shelly Ann Wayland; sisters, Kathrine Merry, Faye Long, Doris Dowell, Wanda Usselton; brothers, Bill Wayland, Garland Wayland Jr. and Gary Michael Wayland.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Wayland; daughters, Dina Frazier and husband Mitch, Shannon Smith and husband Brian, Becky Towne and husband Scott; grandchildren, Johnathon and Nina Frazier, Morgann and Kenmon Workman, Ahna Smith, Rylan Smith, Brenden, Brett and Kelby Towne; great-grandchildren, Peyton Frazier and Braxton Towne; siblings, Glen Wayland and wife Judy, Treva and husband Buford Parrott; sisters-in-law, Vivian Wayland, Alicia Wayland, April Wayland, Helen Janes, Phyllis and husband Brick Roberts; brothers-in-law, Bob Curtis and wife Patricia, Richard Curtis and wife Betty along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church in Chandler with the Rev. Doyle Seeley and the Rev. Kevin Martin officiating followed by a Masonic Ceremony. Interment with military honors followed at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
