Ray Vernon Smith, 97, of Newalla passed from this life to his rewards in Heaven on March 5, 2020 in Newalla. He was born on January 30, 1923, in Muskogee, OK to Cleo Eral Smith and Clara Emma Gilbert Smith.

He was a retired compression station operator from ONG. He was a member of Broadway Masonic Lodge, Oklahoma City, and a Master Mason for more than 50 years.

Ray was a kind-hearted man, respectful of others and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed watching OU football and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dixie in 2011; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include a son Stanley Smith and wife Tena of Collinsville, TX; a daughter Deborah Proctor and husband Lee of Vian, OK; a sister, Faye Burleigh of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren Lisa Proctor and Gunnar Proctor and a great-grandson Sean Proctor.

Funeral services were Tuesday. in the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah, followed by interment in Agnew Cemetery, Keefeton, OK.
