Vera Eileen Simmons Hildreth was born in Chandler, Okla., to John H. and Vera Margaret Massey Simmons of Davenport, Okla., on August 11, 1953. Vera E. Hildreth passed away June 5, 2020 of a heart attack in Batesburg, S.C., at her home she shared with her significant other of three years Wayne Hallman.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald Ray Hildreth. She is survived by two children, Melissa Hildreth and Eric Hildreth, both of South Carolina, and step-daughter Beverly Short, of N.C. Vera had seven grandchildren, Jamie, Damion, Kian, Rylan, Brantly, Azreal and Bailey; also two step grandchildren, Megan Sisk and Morgan Little. She is also survived by two siblings, David Simmons, Davenport, Okla., and John D. Simmons and his wife Pamela Simmons, Davenport.
Vera will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends all over the United States.
Vera was raised in Davenport attending elementary, Jr. High, and graduating from Davenport High School in 1971. She also attended Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Okla.
She worked as a seamstress in garment factories for many years. She and her husband Donald R. Hildreth traveled, worked, and lived all over the United States for several years settling down in South Carolina where they raised their two children Melissa and Eric.
Vera enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and new adventures. She had a saying “You gotta live life!” and that she did. She adored and lived for her children and grandchildren.
Vera’s bright smile, kind heart and loving nature touched and enriched many lives. She will be dearly missed. Vera Eileen Simmons Hildreth’s final resting place is in Batesburg, S.C.
