Waunetta Joyce Burgess Whittenberg of Wellston was born to Maurice Conrad and Lillian Lucille Burgess on August 24, 1935, in Wheeler, Texas. She died Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in Edmond, Okla., at the age of 84 years.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, she taught first grade until retirement. She was of the Christian faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and one infant brother.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Maurice and Dianne Whittenberg of Wellston, Marianne Hudson of Midwest City, Okla., and Melinda and Gary Sharum of Edmond; her sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Elvie Williams of Shamrock, Texas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Metropolitan Bible Church in Oklahoma City after a private burial at Rossville Cemetery in Wellston.
Final arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
