Kudos to all you alums!!! Your response has been overwhelming to our Route 66 Mini-Golf Course, and it has exceeded our expectations! One should never underestimate a tiger, especially a Stroud Tiger! It has been fun to reconnect with so many alums and see classes compete and connect with each other. We have had donations come in from the class of 1947 through 1996 so I guess it does prove “Once a Tiger always a Tiger.” I think our grandparents and parents who came before us and loved this town are looking down on us with pride as we carry the torch promoting Stroud.

As soon as the weather permits, Town Talk will put the finishing touches on the Horn and Stinson buildings and finish the Children’s Pocket Park on Pete Swatsky’s vacant lot west of his Main Street business. A bugle boy statue in Ed. Smalley park, a playground awning in Foster Park and downtown building lights are our other current projects and we have tentatively secured funding for these. We hope to have them all completed by summer. If so, we plan on taking a break from any major fundraising and let everyone enjoy the generosity and fruits of their labor. We can then concentrate on community neighborhood clean-up which takes absolutely no funds but lots of manpower.

We will put a plan together and will be asking for volunteers to help us carry out that project. Our Main Street lighting plan is in place and as soon as we have some nice weather, we will begin implementing it.

Sorry I didn’t have a column in last week’s paper but I’m sure most of you know by now that I fell and broke my arm on Friday evening. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I’m improving every day and the doctor tells me I’ll be good as new in a couple of months.

Thanks to all who purchased Valentine day donuts. The weather worked against us, but we did sell some which helped us a bit as well as the local donut shop. Not too many people have weathered the cold to buy donuts.

Snow packed roads gives us all a chance to slow down and stay home. It enables us to look around locally and see all that is available right here in our community. Show our local businesses some February love by shopping with them.. Have a great week.
