It was another busy Saturday this past weekend as Town Talk hosted its monthly Farmer’s Market.

Town Talk volunteer and market organizer Mandy Clark had lots of fun activities this month as well as many local and area vendors with their wares for sell. There were pony rides for the kids as well as a mechanical bull.

A cook-off was also held with entries being in the soup and pie categories. Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry.

The next market will be held on Saturday, November 14th. It will take place at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Mark your calendars now to attend.

Gene and Debbie McElroy have Stroud Liquor Store all decorated for Fall and it adds to all the Main Street decorations. Thank you to Gene & Debbie and all merchants who have decorated their businesses.

It gives our town a positive image when business owners take pride in their store fronts.

Town Talk’s Grill & Chill fundraiser has been moved to Friday night, October 30th.

The event will take place outside at Unique OK located at 314 North 5th Avenue beginning at 5:00 p.m.

There will be hot dogs for sale for the kiddos and bratwurst for the parents along with chips and a drink. Bring your lawn chairs and come join us.

We will have ring toss, corn hole and other games on hand to play. We are hoping to show a movie at dusk if we work out all the kinks.

More details will be available right here in this column as we work out all the details but make plans now to attend.

Stop by after trick or treating with the kids on Main Street and let the fun continue.

Town Talk has many volunteers who help us with our projects. Beginning next week, I am going to spotlight a Town Talk volunteer weekly who is making a difference in our community.

Get to know some of the people who help make Stroud a great place to live.

My dear friend, Clara Hodgens, is taking this month off from her volunteer work at Prairie Pointe.

I know she needed a little vacation, but she also took a month off from writing her Prairie Pointe column for this newspaper.

I know all her loyal readers are missing her stories each week and I’m sure the residents miss her, too.

Just hold on, November will be here soon, and we will find out what has been going on out there while the cat was away.

I do know another long-time friend of mine, Thelma Mauldin, just celebrated her birthday this past week at Prairie Point. Happy Belated Birthday, Thelma. Hope it was a great one.

Have you made it a point to visit a Stroud merchant this week? Does your son play football?

If so, are you soaking those white football pants in Biz?

When my mom had kids and grandkids in school, she was known for getting their uniforms “white.” We found out her secret was Biz.

Do you know Biz is a little hard to find but you can purchase it right here in Stroud at Williams Grocery Store? It’s even on sale this week.

I looked it up and it’s cheaper at Williams right now until October 25th than it is at Wal-Mart. I’d suggest you stock up on it.

Grab a bite to eat this week at a local restaurant and then visit a local merchant. Let’s spend some dollars in Stroud.

Have a great week and remember, as always, to shop and dine local…………..first!
