McLoud High School Football Coach Rusty Hall believes Friday night’s district road game at Perkins will determine if his Redskins or Perkins go to the playoffs.

Hall said, “The winner of this game I think will get the fourth playoff spot.”

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on Perkins’ home field.

McLoud stands 3-4 on the season following a 56-22 defeat at the hands of 9th ranked Anadarko.

Hall commented, “We didn’t play very well defensively. We were very, very average. They came right at us.”

He noted, “We did worse defending the pass. They threw quite a few play action passes.”

He thought, “Offensively, we threw the ball well. Collin (Quarterback Collin Gibson) threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball 15 times for 62 yards. But he tossed two interceptions that were pretty costly,” Hall said.

He also pointed out that four receivers dropped passes and one was in the endzone.

“We were making a comeback in the third quarter. It was 30-14 coming out of halftime. Then they made it 36-14, but we came right back and made it 36-22.

“We had two chances. We got to the six-yard line and Collin throws an interception that would have brought us to within one score and then we were driving again, made it to their 30-35 yard line and he throws another interception,” Hall added.

The veteran McLoud head mentor said, “It went downhill from there. We ended up with five turnovers, three fumbles and two interceptions and then a blocked punt that Anadarko got a touchdown on.”

He mentioned the Redskins fumbled on the 10-yard line in the first half and Anadarko scored on that and really put McLoud in a hole.

Sophomore running back Clint Campbell had 54 yards rushing in the contest.

Three different receivers caught TD passes. Wes Olds had five catches for 112 yards and a TD, Coby Cardin had two receptions for 96 yards and a TD and Rylan Hall-Norton had four receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Hall said of Anadarko, “They were very big up front. We couldn’t handle their size.”
