Sophomore quarterback Rickey Hunt scored Millwood’s first 28 points of the game and led the Falcons to a 36-14 win over the Lions Friday night.

Hunt ran for two scores in the first quarter, including a 72-yarder, one in the second and one in the third. The last was a 6-yard run that put the Falcons up 30-14.

The loss left the Lions in a third-place tie with Kellyville in the district and put the Falcons into second with three wins. Due to COVID-19 cancellations of games this year, district standings are determined by the number of games won by each team, rather than winning percentage.

Millwood led 16-0 after Hunt’s second touchdown, but Chandler got on the board early in the second period.

Casmen Hill took a pitch, made a couple of couple of cuts and ran the ball down to the Millwood two-yard line. Spencer Clagg powered in from there and then ran for the two-point conversion, making the score 16-8. The Lions got back into the end zone following a fumble recovery at the Millwood 15-yard line in the third quarter.

Darian Mahan got the score with an over-the-shoulder catch in the back of the end zone, making it 28-14 with 1:30 left in the period.

The game was played in an unusual atmosphere that was much quieter than usual. Millwood limited attendance to 35 percent of stadium capacity.
