The Stroud Tigers picked up their first win of the season Friday, blanking Chouteau, 25-0.

It was the first time for the Tigers to be on the field in almost a month, thanks to opponents cancelling games due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

The Choteau game originally was supposed to be against Konawa for the Tigers’ homecoming, but Stroud was able to get Chouteau to come.

“We weren’t as sharp as we wanted to be, but it felt awesome to get that first win,” said Stroud coach Josh Presley. “We ready to get that taste of losing out of our mouths. It’s always good for morale to get that win.”

The Tigers’ defense dominated the game, allowing only 59 yards of total offense on 41 snaps by the Wildcats and giving up only seven first downs.

“Coach Hines and Coach Plunkett put in a great scheme,” Presley said. “The kids executed really well and ran to the ball well all night.

“We were on the kids pretty hard the last couple of weeks about maximum effort and running to the ball, and they had them ready to play.”

Stroud got out to a quick lead on a 27-yard scoring run by Blake Parrick with less than two minutes gone in the game.

Chasen Neuman ran 51 yards for another score later in the period to put Stroud up 13-0.

Parrick scored again in the fourth quarter and hit Will Pittman with a 40-yard scoring pass to close out the scoring.

Neuman finished with 170 of total offense, running for 80 and passing for 90. Parrick threw for 78 yards and ran for 43.

Dylan Collins was the main recipient of the passing, catching three balls for 69 yards.
