Child neglect charges in Stroud

Two people from Stroud face child neglect charges after an infant was found in the back seat of a car in the parking lot of a grocery store. Jack Keith Wofford, 31, and Jessica Shadawn Jordan, 29, were formally charged in Lincoln County District Court Sep. 20 with child neglect.

Two charged in drug theft

A Prague man already facing a manslaughter charge and a Shawnee woman have been charged with larceny of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Joseph Resin Linnhuber, 19, Prague and Kaylee Joe Gaskill, 18, of Shawnee, were formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Sep. 28.

Ohio man dies in accident

A worker from Ohio has died in an industrial accident in Stroud after a piece of equipment reportedly fell on him. Stroud Police Chief Clint Gaylord identified the man as 46-year-old Willard Kieffer, Jr. Gaylord said the call came in at 12:09 p.m.

The Chandler High School band, pictured above, won Outstanding Percussion at the Ironhead Invitational Marching Festival in Eufala on Sep. 30, along with placing sixth overall in the finals. They placed first and won Outstanding Color Guard and Percussion for 3A Maroon in the preliminaries.

Stroud man faces pornography charge

A Stroud man who was charged with three felonies in July of this year now faces a felony count of possession of child pornography. Shamus Jack Palermo, 49, was formally charged Sep. 22 in Lincoln County District Court with possession of child pornography.

  Friday night as the marching bands prepared to play their half-time shows at the Meeker-Chandler game, five players veered away from the rest of the football teams.

Weeks enters blind plea

A Shawnee man on trial for 41 felony charges of sex-related crimes with minors has made a blind plea during the trial on all of the counts. After hearing all of his victims testify on Wednesday, Sep. 27, Danny Ray Weeks entered a blind plea on Thursday morning.

Chandler plans Reed Park renovation

City Council member David Burgess grew up playing in the park on Allison Avenue. Later on, he helped keep it up when it was under the care of the Masonic Lodge and then Citizens for the Improvement of Chandler. But then he saw the condition of the park deteriorate.
