The driver of a vehicle that struck and seriously injured a Stroud youth who was driving a motorcycle in July has waived his preliminary hearing.

Meeker sets election

TheMeekerTownBoard this week adopted a resolution calling for the election of the Town in 2023. The board also spent a brief time in two executive sessions before returning and approving pay increases for three employees.

Dale extends contract for school superintendent

Dale’s Board of Education has voted to extend the contract of its superintendent by a year beginning in July of 2023 and members also hired two new people. The board held a special meeting Dec.12 rather than on Dec. 5 due to illness of some members.

Bench warrant issued for sex suspect

A bench warrant of more than a half-million dollars has been issued for the arrest of a Shawnee man facing over 30 charges of sex-related crimes with minors. A total of 34 felony charges were formally filed in Pottawatomie County District Court on Dec. 15 against Danny Ray Weeks, Jr., 52.

Hearings scheduled in harboring case

Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for the mother and sister who are charged with harboring a fugitive from justice. Kara Vancuren, 34, of Prague, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court July 29 with harboring a fugitive from justice.

The Chandler Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing for early January concerning rezoning of property for a proposed hotel. The Planning Commission will conduct the public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at Chandler City Hall located at 414 Manvel Ave.
