The ice and snow from last week’s winter storm has disappeared but it forced area schools to make adjustments and caused many to close. Some area schools went to virtual learning, others closed and took snow days and several did both.

Audit finds problems in Tryon

A special investigative audit has found that more than $95,000 was misappropriated in the Town of Tryon and that three former employees reportedly misappropriated almost $80,000 in payroll.

Arraignment set in weapons case

A McLoud man facing state felony charges after he already had admitted a federal firearms count and was sentenced, has been bound over to stand trial. Christopher Steven Ledbetter was charged in Lincoln County District Court with five felonies on Sep. 14.

Trial set for Ada woman

An Ada woman charged with first degree manslaughter in the fatal traffic collision that killed a Prague man has been bound over to stand trial. Haley Jordan Price, 30, was bound over recently following the conclusion of her preliminary hearing. Her arraignment has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Jan.

A preliminary hearing has been continued for a McLoud man facing five state charges after he already had admitted a federal firearms count and was sentenced by a federal judge. Christopher Steven Ledbetter was charged in Lincoln County District Court with five felonies on Sep. 14.

Property assessments begin

The Lincoln County Assessor’s office will take exemption applications and personal property assessments Monday, Jan. 3 through Tuesday, March 15, 2022, according to Assessor Jackie Holcomb. Reminders will be mailed to property owners on Thursday, Dec. 30.

More charges for Chandler man

A Chandler man who already had been charged with a felony in November, now faces three additional felony counts. Christopher Allen Michael Hyde, 20, was charged Nov. 10 in Lincoln County District Court with knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property.

Board of Education Primary Election announced

The Lincoln County Election Board has announced that on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, Primary Elections will be held for Board of Education Office No. 2 in Carney School District and Board of Education Office No. 2 in Prague School District.

Hearing continued in chase case

A pre-preliminary hearing for a Guthrie man facing a felony and four misdemeanors has been continued until January. Formal charges were filed June 22 in Lincoln County District Court against Paul Jimmy Laray Fox, 27, after he fled from law enforcement officers and eluded them for several hours.
