Davenport falls to Wetumka

The Davenport Bulldogs, 2-2 in the district after suffering a 48-22 home loss to Wetumka, will wrap up the regular season Thursday night in a road game at Depew. Coach John Greenfield said kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs stand 5-4 overall on the season.

College Success award winners

Two high schools in Lincoln County are among those which have earned a College Success Award in Oklahoma in 2022. According to the Oklahoma State Department of Education, Chandler and Prague High Schools are among 90 in the state selected this year.

District domination

Stroud pummeled Mounds, 46-14, Friday and moved to within arm’s reach of a district championship. The Tigers can clinch it with a win in one of their final two games, which are against Wewoka and Savanna, who have a combined 3-13 record for the regular season.

Randall, Coody win regionals

Jordan Coody and Riley Randall won the individual championships at their cross-country regionals Saturday, and the Meeker boys brought home the championship plaque. Randall, a two-time state champion, won his regional by a minute, clocking 17:06.

BRIAN BLANSETT Staff writer Chandler’s Lions were behind by two touchdowns before they got to run their first offensive play at Jones Friday, and things didn’t get much better after that. The result was a 27-point win for the Longhorns in what was a defacto showdown for first place in District 2A2.

Bulldogs fall to Weleetka

The Davenport Bulldogs suffered their first district loss of the season last week, losing to Weleetka 48-8 in a road contest. Davenport is now 2-1 in the district and 5-3 overall for the season. Coach John Greenfield said next up is Wetumka which comes to Davenport Friday night for a 7:30 p.m.

It was a season’s worth of highlight reel plays for Casmen Hill Friday night. The Chandler senior running back peeled off touchdown runs of 54, 82, 61 and 66 yards against Bethel and finished with an astounding 349 yards on just 16 carries.
