Last week I had a doctor’s appointment and during the course of the visit, my physician mentioned that I had what he termed “an important” birthday the previous week.
In case anyone cares or is just interested in knowing, I turned 75 a couple of weeks ago.
It was the second week of second grade at Fitzhugh when an undersized brownhaired boy with a white spot in his hair showed up.
Mrs. Duffer introduced him to us as Nelson McSwain, who would be joining our class.

The other evening as I was coming home from a meeting, I drove by a Little League baseball game. It was good to see all the young kids playing ball and lots of parents gathered around cheering for their team.
BAYLEE BLANCARTE Every Wednesday I take the newspapers to Tryon post office. This Wednesday was no different.
On my drive I saw two separate mothers with toddlers playing on the trampolines in their yards.
