Phillip Avery Owens

Phillip Avery Owens was born May 15, 1975, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Ronald Crews and Brenda (Tackett) Owens. He passed away April 3, 2024, in Carney at the age of 48. He was a volunteer Carney firefighter.Phillip was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, sister and his grandparents.

Intersection still closed after train derailment

Murder suspect captured in Lincoln County

Lincoln County deputies with assistance from other area law enforcement agencies have captured a suspect wanted on a murder warrant out of Tulsa County.Sgt. Aaron Bennett, Public Information Officer for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, identified the wanted suspect as Kelvin Boelen.

No contest in animal cruelty

Two women from Wellston who were charged last year with multiple counts of animal cruelty have each pleaded no contest to each of the charges.Forty-nine charges of cruelty to animals were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Aug. 17, 2023 against Lisa Zumstein, 60, and Madeline Zumstein, 20.

Two life terms for Chandler man

A Chandler man convicted by a jury in February of this year of committing four crimes against a minor has been handed two life sentences and two other 25-year prison terms as well.

Additional pornography charge filed

A Stroud man already charged with four felonies related to children and scheduled for the May disposition docket now faces a fifth count.A formal charge of aggravated possession of child pornography was filed March 15 in Lincoln County District Court this year against Shamus Patrick Palermo, 49.
