Meeker FFA officers attend training retreat

BEAU NEWPORT Meeker FFA

The Meeker FFA Chapter Ocer Team recently held its annual Ocer Retreat to plan and prepare for the upcoming school year. As part of their retreat, the ocers participated in educational tours and team-building activities aimed at strengthening leadership skills and agricultural knowledge.

The first stop was at Marak Family Farms, located just outside of Meeker, where they learned about the dayto-day operations of a working dairy. Ocers toured the operation to observe how milk is collected, processed, and prepared for consumption, gaining a deeper understanding of a dairy farm.

Following the dairy tour, the group visited Top Turf Sod Farms, also near Meeker. They explored the processes involved in growing sod for use in landscaping, residential yards, and construction sites. Ocers were able to view specialized equipment used in sod production and learn how turfgrass farming plays a role in local agriculture and land development.

Throughout the retreat, FFA Advisors Mr. Johns and Mr. Boone facilitated a series of team-building exercises designed to help ocers identify their responsibilities, set chapter goals, and develop stronger collaboration skills. Members in attendance were Devyn Frazier, Baylee Weeks, Kaydence Staude, Beau Newport, Emily Benn, and Stevie Buoy.
