A Wellston man faces a felony charge after he reportedly choked his wife and struck her with his fist, causing her to have to go to a hospital.
A charge of Domestic Assault and Battery by Strangulation was formally filed Feb. 15 in Lincoln County District Court against Kalib Thomas Wise, 28.
Special Judge Emily Mueller set a $10,000 bond for Wise and ordered him to have no contact with the victim as a condition of the bond.
The judge scheduled an initial appearance for Wise at 1:30 p.m. on March 17.
The victim, Catherine Rose Wise, also filed a petition for a protective order against Kalib Wise on Feb. 15 and an emergency protective order was issued. A protective order hearing is scheduled for March 3.
Wise is accused of on Feb. 11, this year at 329880 E. 900 Road in Lincoln County of committing an assault and battery upon his wife Catherine Wise with the intent to cause harm by striking her about the face and body with his hands and fists and by strangling or attempting to strangle her.
