Dale’s Board of Education this week approved the final 2021-2022 budget and also adopted a resolution calling for the annual school election.
Acting School Supt. Ky Wilkins presented the final budget to the board showing revenue estimates of $5,463,336.42. The fund balance carryover from July this year is $246,027.33 with total budget appropriations of $5,709,363.75 for 2021-2022.
On the resolution for the annual school election, Office No. 2 will be the seat on the ballot.
Board President Roger Batt currently holds that position and he said after Monday night’s meeting that he will seek another five-year term.
Wilkins explained the filing period is from Monday, Dec. 6 through Wednesday, Dec. 8.
If three or more file for the seat, the primary will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022. If just two file, the general election will be Tuesday, April 5, he said,
Wilkins also reviewed with the board revenue comparisons between October of this year and the same month in 2020.
Through October of 2020, warrants totaled $1,399,312 and through October of this year the figure is $1,533,291 which is $133,979 more.
Actual revenue, which is local money the state cannot touch, totals $257,413 through last month this year. That is $71,600 more than the district had received through October of 2020 which was $185,813.
The building fund in October of a year ago stood at $46,417. Last month it totaled $21,531 which is about $ 24,886 down.
The district’s cash balance in October of 2020 was $145,549. In October of this year, it totals $123,771. That is $21,778 down from a year ago.
State aid received so far this year is $817,512 and that is $1,278 more than the $816,234 through October of 2020.
The County Education sales tax balance currently stands at $267.519, Wilkins said. The Stimulus Esser II account is $189,692, he advised.
And the American Rescue Program funds are $541,919, Wilkins said.
Elementary Principal Courtney Howser in her report advised the board her students brought in $8,600 during a recent donations fund raiser.
“We will do a modified version of our Christmas store this year,” Howser told the board.
Assistant Secondary Principal JD Widner said the ACT test was administered last month. He said Dec. 6 is the band concert and there will be a Veterans Day Assembly beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 11 in the new gymnasium.
He said refreshments will be served to veterans beginning at 8:30 a.m. that morning.
In other business, the board head an audit report from Bledsoe, Hewett and Gullekson CPA’s.
The board approved a couple of fund raisers.
