Four Wellston FFA members received their State FFA Degrees at the State FFA Convention in Tulsa last month. The State FFA Degree is the highest degree awarded by the Oklahoma FFA. Taylor McConnell was also recognized as an Academic Excellence recipient for her scholastic achievement.

Charges filed in turnpike case

A motorist faces a felony and two misdemeanors after he was arrested by a state trooper on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County. Formal charges were filed May 3 in Lincoln County District Court against Steven Mitchell Jones, 31, of Skiatook.

McLoud approves budget

The McLoud City Council during its most recent meeting approved the proposed Fiscal Year budget for 2023 that begins July 1 this year. Council members also adopted a resolution on approving the budget. Operating revenue in the General Fund is projected at $1,850,000.

Laureate Beta Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Stroud, joined thousands of Members throughout the world to celebrate the 91st anniversary of the founding of the organization on April 30,1931. It is also the 43rd anniversary of the chartering of the Stroud chapter.

Meet the Candidates

The Committee for Better Roads in Lincoln County District 1 will host a meeting of voters and candidates in the District 1 County Commissioner primary. The meeting will be 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, at the American Legion Hall in Stroud.

Lewises to celebrate 70th

Lloyd and Nelda Lewis will observe their 70th Wedding Anniversary on May 28, 2022. They were married May 28, 1952, in the home of her parents in Sulphur, Okla. In 1970 they purchased farmland near Sparks, Okla., building a home there later.

Springdale School reunion planned

The Springdale School Reunion will be held at noon, Saturday, June 4, at the Chandler Senior Citizens Building. Bring your favorite dish or dessert for a potluck meal. If you have pictures or any memorabilia, bring those to share with fellow alumni.

Shaley Barnes of the Wellston FFA Chapter won the State Star in Agribusiness award at the 96th Oklahoma FFA Convention and Expo on May 4 at the BOK Center.
