Diabetes prevention program offered in Lincoln County

Jessica Riggin of Lincoln County is one of 12 Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences educators who have been trained as Life Coaches for the Centers for Disease Control’s Diabetes Prevention Program.

Eagle Scout rank

Bryston Smith, son of Brian and Brandy Smith, earned his Eagle Scout rank on August 14. A scout since he was a tiger cub scout in kindergarten, Bryston’s refurbished an old gun cabinet into a bookcase for the local food pantry.

Dale 4H raises money for SPAR

SPAR-Saving Pets at Risk, a 501c3 charitable organization, recently received a generous donation from the Dale 4-H Club. This donation of supplies for the care of SPAR dogs will be used for the rescues taken in from the tri-county area.

December student Rotarians

Chandler High School seniors Sophia Eggum and Presley Martzall were named student members of the Rotary Club for December 2021. Sophia Eggum, the daughter of Sarah Eggum and Dana Tom Eggum, has one older sibling, Grant Eggum.

NWOSU announces honor roll for Fall 2021

Fall semester honor rolls at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Enid have been announced by the Office of the Executive Vice President. Those on the President’s Honor Roll earned all A’s, or a 4.0 grade point average, in a minimum of 12 undergraduate or nine graduate hours.

Delmer and Sylva Summers: 63 years

Delmer and Sylva Summers of Stroud celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on December 28th. The two built a life together, a home, a family. Along with the joyous moments and good memories came bad times.

Meeker FFA wins contest

Last Friday, the Meeker High School Parliamentary Procedure Team competed in the state contest at the OSU campus in Stillwater. Annsley Babek, Aviary Helms, Brynna Raines, Ayden Gonzales, Amos Grimes, Devyn Frazier, and Allie Jarvis were named State Champions!

UCO fall grads announced

Officials at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond announced the names of that will graduate during the Fall 2021 Commencement Ceremonies Dec. 17-18 in Central’s Hamilton Field House. Among the graduates are the following students from our coverage area.

Meeker wins award for park

Keep Okahoma Beautiful recently announced the Town of Meeker was the recipient of its Team Builders Project for its Glenn Crest Park project. The project was completed in April.
