Updates from Meeker Town Hall

Gov. Stitt “Re-opens” Oklahoma. Starting on the 24th. I hope this is a great thing but, please remember to social distance and wash your hands a lot. If you do not feel comfortable with his call, stay at home a few more weeks. It is better to be safe than sorry.

IFYR scratched for this summer

When I learned last week the International Finals Youth Rodeo isn’t going to be held this summer, it didn’t come as a shock or a surprise.

Title VI school meeting in Stroud

A Title I, Part A / Title VI-Indian Education / Impact Aid meeting will be held Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. at the Stroud High School Commons Area. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the use of funds for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.

EDITORIAL

It appears the political process is alive in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties following the filing period three weeks ago. It was encouraging to see the number of people from the two counties who decided to become candidates for local, county and state offices.

Joe Exotic

When Joe Exotic was running for governor in 2018, he appeared at a candidate forum as part of the Oklahoma Press Association’s annual summer convention. There were 11 or 12 candidates for governor assembled, including Kevin Stitt and Drew Edmondson, but Joe stole the show.

Meeker Town Hall updates

We listened to our Governor Stitt at lunch today and it looks like sometime at the first of May, Oklahoma will be opening back up. As good as that sounds it will still be done slow and in phases. Phase 1, 2 & 3. It all depends on what our medical experts advise.

A bad attitude about cats

I’m convinced Brian’s cat has been practicing ninja skills. Yes, Brian’s cat. I made it clear when we married that I was not adopting the cats. I’m begrudgingly cohabitating with them. The nearby presence of a cat will trigger instant sneezing, wheezing and itching for me.

Turkey hunting in western Oklahoma

Last week, my good friend Steve Buoy and I journeyed out to western Oklahoma for a spring turkey hunt. We had planned to make the trip the previous week. However, because of COVID-19, we had decided to postpone it for a while.
