Baseball memories

As I was looking through some old photos recently, I came across one of my fourth grade baseball team. That’s been a day or two since it was taken, more specifically several decades. Not sure when we retrieved it from my parents’ house, but it was before my mother’s passing in 2013.

I noticed that the Oklahoma Highway Patrol along with other law enforcement agencies reportedly are cracking down on distracted driving between now and Jan. 31. Received a press release indicating such early last week that it was beginning Jan. 17 and running for a two-week period.

Gov. Kevin Stitt’s call for a special session that starts next Monday, one week ahead of when the Legislature convenes for four months, is a needless waste of taxpayer money. The governor called the session to take up a cut in the state income tax.

Cold weather

I came back to the house Monday after driving to the newspaper office and thought: “That’s weird. It looks like the trash can is smoking.” Turns out, it was smoking. About an hour earlier, I had cleaned out the fireplace ashes and tossed a plastic sack of them into the trash can.

Worrisome school trends

I saw and read last Friday where a student showed up at a Middle School in Oklahoma City with a weapon and fired it in the bathroom of the facility. Thank goodness no one was injured, but the school was on a lockdown for awhile.

Don and Ta at GiGi’s donuts are back from vacation and the donut shop is once again open for business. I don’t know how Stroud made it without a donut shop for as long as we did, before GiGi’s opened. Everyone was missing their morning donuts but no worries, the donuts are back!
