Before we know it, May is going to be here and that means alumni weekend. What a great time that is here in Stroud! I think there is even more excitement this year since last year had to be cancelled due to the virus outbreak. I hear Class of 1971 is already making plans for their 50th year reunion.

Retro

Every so often, I drag out one or two of my old film cameras and make Kindra pose for pictures until I can tell that her patience is almost shot. The cameras are awkward to focus, they take a while to adjust the exposure and you get only a dozen shots per roll of film.

Updates from Meeker Town Hall

1. Update on Chamber of Commerce A. Wow! What an honor, the Meeker Chamber of Commerce presented me, Dickie Walton, the Citizen of the Year Award. One of the best things was how everyone kept everything so quiet.

Spending a pleasant evening

This past Sunday Pat and I were invited over to her mom’s for supper. It’s always a delight to have her mom Ruth cook for us. You know it’s going not only to be good but delicious. This woman is 94 years old and in a couple of months will celebrate her 95th birthday.

Town Talk

Everyone is celebrating Spring Break this week and I hope that’s an indication that spring weather is just around the corner. Town Talk is anxious to get outside again and continue working on community projects.

State legislative update

The House passed two measures Thursday that will grant tax relief to individual Oklahomans and businesses. House Bill 2041 reduces the personal income tax by .25% through a credit. It results in tax reductions for all income levels.

Robbery charge in Stroud gun case

A man from Depew faces a felonious first degree robbery charge after allegedly stealing a firearm from a Stroud resident last fall. Russell Ted Foutch, 31, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on March 2 of this year.

An ‘F’ to Southwest Power Pool

With last week’s major snowstorm that crippled almost all of Oklahoma, including the local area, there were lots of yeas of how public services responded to it. There also were some nays.

1. Update from Town Trustee Meeting A. The locking of City Hall front door due to another strain outbreak of corona virus concluded with a vote to lock the front door during regular business hours 8 AM – 5 PM, Monday – Friday.

Murder charges in Stroud shooting

A Harrah man, being held in jail for the last two weeks in the alleged fatal shooting of a Stroud resident, now faces a first degree murder charge.
