Callie Cardin, McLoud:

For Callie Cardin, this slow-pitch season was supposed to be the capstone of an impressive high school softball career. A four-year starter in fast-pitch and slow-pitch, she was one of the leaders in a group of seniors that had revived the Lady Redskins’ program.

Diana Manning, Prague:

Prague senior Diana Manning had quite a high school sports career, winning a state championship as a freshman at Dale with her sisters, Danielle and Delanie, then sitting out a year after going to Prague.

Madison Buoy, Meeker:

A starter on the softball team since she was a freshman, Madison Buoy was off to a great start in slowpitch this spring. Buoy was four-for-five at the plate and allowed only one run while pitching as the Lady Bulldogs got off to a 3-0 start and outscored the opposition 49-1.

Grant Elerick, Stroud:

Stroud senior Grant Elerick has been playing baseball since he could remember. “I played t-ball when I was in kindergarten and fi rst grade, then played tournament ball when I was in elementary school and middle school, and played all through my high school career,” he said.

Jeff Edmondson, Dale coach:

The Dale Pirates were loading the bus to go to Mustang to watch the Dale girls play Latta in the first round of the state tournament when coach Jeff Edmondson got the call.

Alyssa DeLeon, Stroud:

Stroud Senior Alyssa DeLeon has played softball all throughout high school and ran track since middle school. She has won the All-Conference MVP and made All-State in fastpitch Upsetting. The word she used to describe the situation.

Morgan Fowble, Chandler:

For Morgan, the news that the season - and her senior year - were ending was disappointing, to say the least. “It was upsetting. It was the last goaround with my girls from sofrtball,” she said. “I came to the conclusion they were doing the right thing to keep up safe.

Katlyn Hughey, Stroud:

Stroud senior Katlyn Hughey has been playing slowpitch softball for five years. “It’s disappointing and I selfishly wish we could finish out the way we were supposed to and the way we hear about, but I know that this is how it’s supposed to be and there will be some good come out of it,” she said.

Last ball for a while

Stroud and Prague went to Meeker Thursday for a three-way that will be the last baseball we see for a while. Meeker nipped Prague 5-3 in the first game behind the two-hit pitching of starter Jacob Sellers and reliever Jacob Martin, who got the final three outs.
