Davenport pushes record to 5-0

It’s homecoming this week as the Davenport Bulldogs host Foyil for the district opener after they walloped Yale 52-6 at Bulldog Stadium last week to run their season record to a perfect 5-0. It was Davenport’s final non-district contest. Davenport Coach John Greenfield said kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Jones won the battle of the conversion attempts Friday night and took a 29-26 district win over Chandler. Jones dominated the first half and Chandler the second, with both teams scoring four touchdowns.

Dale draws Rattan in baseball bracket

Fresh from winning the regional tournament on the road at Canute, the Dale Pirates open action in the state playoffs this afternoon at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City. Coach Eddie Jeffcoat’s Pirates will face Rattan at 4 p.m. at Palmer Field.

The other night I covered a football game up at Meeker. It a rivalry contest between the Bulldogs of Meeker and the Prague Red Devils. At stake, was the winner taking home the Highway 62 Traveling Trophy. The trophy is sponsored by Anthony’s Food Stores.

The Chandler Lions put together scoring drives on their final two possessions and emerged with an 18-16 district win over Crossings Christian Friday night.

Davenport’s Bulldogs earned their second shutout of the football season with a 48-0 victory over Strother on the Bulldogs’ home field last week. The game ended following Davenport’s first drive of the second half.

Fast pitch regionals matchups

The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association has released the pairings for the regional fast pitch tournaments. Most games are set for Thursday and Friday, but some tournaments have moved to Wednesday and Thursday in anticipation of rain storms forecasted later in the week.

Dale wins baseball district

The Dale Pirates are once again Class A District champions after pounding Calumet twice and Okarche once and earning a regional tournament berth this week. Dale will take on Calera at Canute at 4 p.m. Thursday. Dale’s season record is now 21-9.
