Dale school board

Dale Board of Education members this week hired several personnel and approved a plan for use of Esser III funds. The board also approved the 20232024 salary schedule and school principals presented their reports as the new school year began on Wednesday of this week.

Guilty plea

One of two men facing child endangerment and drug-related charges has pleaded guilty to two of the charges and one of the counts has been dismissed.

Warrant issued in triple stabbing

A McLoud area man faces three felonies in connection with a triple stabbing that took place in early July and his girlfriend also is charged with a felony. Joshua Lynn Barnett, 34, was formally charged Aug. 3 in Lincoln Count District with three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Hearing set for two in Carney death

Hearings have been set for a woman from Wellston and a man from Iowa charged in connection with the death of a Carney area man. Each faces three felonies. Each is being held in the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler without bond.

Lincoln County commissioners during their meeting this week voted unanimously to remove a box that was blacking out the security camera over District Judge Traci Soderstrom’s bench area in her courtroom.

Mary “Pat” Brewer, of New Baden, passed away on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at the age of 81. Pat was born in Ward, Arkansas on March 31, 1942. She was the daughter of Arthur and Mary Avaline (Tucker) Collins.

Joseph Alvan Young Jr., the son of Joe Young and Alta Ward Young, was born in Chandler, Oklahoma, on October 4, 1932. He attended all of his lower education in Chandler, graduating in 1950. Serving in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955, he was an aircraft mechanic and electrician.

Four face charges of child neglect

Four adults in Wellston residing in the same residence with nine children face child neglect charges and one of those also faces a second felony. The nine children reportedly have been placed into custody with the Department of Human Services until a proper home is found.
