Lincoln County deputies with assistance from other area law enforcement agencies have captured a suspect wanted on a murder warrant out of Tulsa County.

Sgt. Aaron Bennett, Public Information Officer for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, identified the wanted suspect as Kelvin Boelen. He currently sits in the Lincoln County Jail and he will be sent back to Tulsa, he said.

Bennett said the alleged murder occurred around 6 p.m. Nov. 19, 2023 at 31st and Mingo in Tulsa and authorities there eventually issued a warrant for his arrest.

“He was arrested in the southwest portion of Lincoln County, east of SH 102 near 1030 Road, around 7:30 p.m.,” Bennett stated.

“He was taken into custody at gunpoint without incident,” Bennett noted. “He was armed with a 9 mm pistol.

Bennett said, “The Sheriff’s Office got word about 5:30 p.m. one evening that a suspect out of Tulsa was wanted for murder and had a warrant out for his arrest. Our Special Operations Team was activated. We were assisted by the police departments from Wellston, Stroud, Luther, the Kickapoo Tribal Nation and Lincoln County Emergency Management.”

He pointed out that Emergency Management was called for aerial drone assistance..

“We had him by 7:30 p.m. that evening,” Bennett added.

Bennett was among the officers who actually made the arrest, he said. Boelen was transported to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler and booked on the Lincoln County. He was formally charged April 8 in Lincoln County District Court with possession of a firearm after prior felony conviction in addition to the murder complaint he faces in Tulsa County.
