Quirk to perform solo

A college student from McLoud is one of ten students who earned the distinction of performing as a soloist at Oklahoma Baptist University’s annual Concerto-Aria Concert, according to a press release from the university.

Davenport investigation

An investigation has been launched into alleged possible embezzlement by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). Public Information Manager Hunter McKee confirmed that they had been asked to investigate by the Davenport Police.

Wrestling regionals next week

Wrestling teams around the state and locally are gearing up for OSSAA Regionals, set to take place next week.Girls’ Regionals will take place from Feb. 16 to 17, with boys’ Regionals set for Feb. 20 to 21.The McLoud girls’ team is coming into regionals strong.

Baade retires as superintendent

The Chandler School Board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Scott Baade at its regular meeting on Feb. 9.Baade has been working in education for 39 years and has been the superintendent at Chandler since 2022.

Wellston man killed in shooting

A 74-year-old man was shot and killed near Wellston on Sunday by law enforcement responding to a 911 call that he was threatening suicide.The man was identified by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) as Steven Pence. He was a retired deputy from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.
