Area students dominate AFR speech contest

Lincoln County students swept awards at this year’s American Farmers and Ranchers (AFR) Central District Speech Contest last week.In the Junior Division, four students placed in the Agriscience category.

NRC to vote on bond issue

The North Rock Creek School Board has called for an election on a no-taxincrease bond issue for new elementary and secondary school buildings.The election is set for Feb. 10, 2026. The bond amount is estimated at $32.

Area musicians make honor band

A number of students in bands all over the county auditioned for the East Central Oklahoma Band Directors’Association Honor Band on Nov. 8. Many lucky musicians were able to make the bands either at the middle school, junior high, or high school level.

Chandler FCCLA wins, places

Stroud drama makes a splash

Stroud is diving below the waves and taking audiences straight to Bikini Bottom with this year’s production of “The SpongeBob Musical”.It’s an all-grade extravaganza, with the cast and crew including students ranging from elementary school to high school.

Filing for school board seats starts on Dec. 1

Candidate filing for the board of education begins Dec. 1, for 10 Lincoln County school districts.Those who wish to file for a board of education office must submit a declaration of candidacy to the Lincoln County election board Dec. 1-3.

Kiefer 20, Lions 15

The Chandler Lions scored on their first possession and dominated the game, but Kiefer scored on its last possession and won it.The 20-15 verdict in the first round of the playoffs marked the end of the Lions’ season.

Tigers keep on rolling

Stroud rolled past Beggs, 49-21 Friday to charge into this week’s Class 2A-II state quarterfinals.They’ll take on the Wyandotte Bears at Jack Poskey Stadium Friday, with the winner advancing to face the winner of the Adair-Holdenville game in next week’s semifinals.
