Four charged in homicide

Four members of a motorcycle club have been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of a former Midwest City Marine who was killed last September. The State Attorney General’s Office this week filed first degree murder charges against Steven Roberts, 55, and Virgil Earl Nelson, 67.

COVID cases pass 18,000 in Pott, Lincoln

Total area cumulative COVID-19 cases have topped the 18,000 mark, figures from the Oklahoma State Department of Health show this week. In Lincoln County, there have been a total of 5,215 positive cases reported since the COVID-19 out break began.

Wrestling, hoops wind up 2021

Chandler’s wrestling and basketball teams wound up the 2021 portions of their schedules last week. The wrestling team beat Tecumseh, 47-27, at home on Thursday and the basketball teams had their home openers against Jones.

Five-year-old Remmi Schwahn, who wrestles for Chandler Takedown Club, displays the bracket and championship belt from the 2021 Tulsa battle for the belt. He won the 6-under novice division. His parents are Lauryn Schwahn and Michael Givens and his coach is Shane Earp.

Vickie Lanette Williams

Vickie Lanette Williams, 58, a life-long resident of Chandler, Okla., passed away on December 15, 2021, at her home in Chandler. Vickie was born on March 22, 1963, in Chandler to Leonard Lee and Anna Fern (Collins) Williams.

William Edward Sporleder

Lifelong Davenport resident William “Bill” Edward Sporleder was born to Julius M. and Juanita (Castleberry) Sporleder on August 8, 1942, in Chandler. He died Friday, November 26, 2021, in Drumright, Okla., due to an illness caused by cancer. He was 79 years old.

Marvin Lynn Davis

Marvin Lynn Davis, age 93, of Perkins, Okla., died at his home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Funeral services were held Monday, December 20, 2021 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins with burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

James Dale Ledbetter

James Dale Ledbetter, of Meeker, Okla., passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in Shawnee, Okla., at the age of 72. James was born in Purcell, Okla., on May 28, 1949. He was the son of James Butler Ledbetter and Jimmie (Best) McNally. James moved with his family to California at an early age.
