Happenings at Prairie Pointe

The Prairie Pointe family is happy to welcome another new member – James Green. James was born in Kemp, Ok and graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1945.

He joined the U.S. Army and served two years in Germany during WWII. The only German word he bothered to learn was “Auf Wiedersehen” which means “good-bye.”

To pronounce this, the soldiers would say “Mine feet are the same.” After the war, James attended OSU at Okmulgee and Tulsa University and in 1951 he went to work for Cessna as an Interior Design Engineer –he designed the insides of airplanes.

He helped design the interior of the second jet aircraft ever flown. With stints with Beach Aircraft, Boeing, Lear Jet and Cessna, he describes the best ten years of his life as working at Cessna. In his spare time, he enjoyed Cushman motor scooters. Varoom, Varoom! James has 2 children—a daughter and son-in-law, an aeronautical engineer, in Rockwall, TX and a son who works for Boeing in Wichita, KS. James is a proud grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 3. He is also the brother of Margie Testerman who joined the Prairie Pointe family last August. Welcome James!

Rae Bland chose “Joy” as the topic for her devotional last Sunday. Residents read multiple scriptures assuring us of the joy God provides to all who claim Jesus as their savior. This was a much needed subject for us in present times.

We will be firing up the new ice cream machine on Tuesdays and Fridays. There is nothing like that creamy, delectable homemade flavor! We can make shakes, floats, banana splits, sundaes, cones, top off some cobbler or just plain ol’ vanilla in a bowl. Yum!

We are scheduled to get our second dose of the COVID vaccine next Monday and we can’t wait. What a game changer for us this will be. Big thanks go to Lincoln County Health Department for coordinating this and we feel so very fortunate to have been some of the first in the county to get the shots.
