Updates from Meeker Town Hall

1. Update at the Library

A. Friends of the Library announced that the Summer Reading Program will be held again this year at the Library, June 25th. This year it will be a one-day event.

2. Update on 56th Annual Meeker Parade and Rodeo Sponsored by the Meeker Roundup Club

A. The parade will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26. Six classes will be judged this year with a couple of new classes added one of them being a Feed Truck and a Tractor Class. Best of Show, Best Float, Best 4 Footed and others will participate in the parade.

B. Make plans to attend two days at the Rodeo this year. Friday, June 25th and Saturday, June 26th.

Come enjoy Sweethearts of the Rodeo and all the action. Cowboy and Cowgirl events are slated for this year’s event.

One of the favorite events is Mutton Bustin. This event always gets all the spectators on their feet and yelling for their favorite youngster.

It doesn’t get much cuter than seeing a little girl or boy wearing their western hats and all the apparel Mom and Dad has dressed them up with. Gotta love those little bitty boots, and scarves they wear. So come on out to the Meeker Arena East of Town and have 2 nights of great fun.

3. Update on Fireworks Display

A. Independence Day celebration will be held July 3rd at the Meeker Lake Area, approximately dark thirty.

The Meeker Fire Department will be in charge of Fire and Safety again this year.

B. Come join and enjoy the food trucks, vendors, music and all the fun we have every year at this event. Meeker’s Police Department will conduct parking again this year.

They did a great job last year. More to come about this great event.

A. PWA is still allowing you to dump your limbs behind the Sewer Plant on Oak St. PWA guys will burn them for you.

B. Still waiting on approval for a chipper.

B. We are all glad to see people going back to work and trying to get things back to some type of normalcy.

7. Update on Spring Showers

A. If April showers brings May flowers; we sure ought to enjoy a lot of flower from the Spring rains.

B. Better spray for mosquitoes. LOL

8. Update for Summer

A. I heard the weather reporters talking about humidity and warm weather coming up.

That means wearing cooler clothes, hats and sandals. With all the fun Summer Events coming up for us to enjoy, let us remember to Love our Family, Friends and Neighbors and also forgive those that may have trespassed against you.

So many times a little whisper of “I’m sorry” or “Forgive me” brings years of broken relationships back together and then you can see and hear people state that they wish they would have done that along time ago.

So many times, we let such little things separate us. So, let’s all say “we’re sorry” and finish up 2021 as a year to remember.
