Thank you to everyone who has been helping with Town Talk’s miniature golf course.
Our latest volunteers were from Stroud’s First Baptist Church. Youth Director Caleb Holzrichter volunteered and brought four young men from his youth group, Isaac Roberts, Andrew Cockrum, Shawn Knoch and Ethan McCammon, to help with the project.
They did an amazing job and I think accomplished as much if not more than we had been able to over several days.
It’s amazing what strong, young whippersnappers can accomplish. Their help was greatly appreciated.
We purchased the golf course from Adventure Golf out of Michigan.
It have been the best company with which to work. Someone is always available by phone to answer any question we might have, and we have called them numerous times.
Carl, one of the men who works for them in their warehouse, is going on a hunting trip to Texas in early November. He and three family members are making the drive from Michigan.
He told me he will come right through Stroud, so he is going to stop to see our course and help us with any issues we might have and give us some on-site pointers. Now that’s what I call customer service. He is doing this at no charge to Town Talk.
Cathy Terry called me Saturday evening and told me that our hay bales and pumpkin decorations were missing from the four corners of Main Street by Jim Hodgens law office.
We naturally thought they had been stolen but they did mysteriously show back up by the time church was dismissed on Sunday morning. If anyone knows where they went for the night, Town Talk would be curious to know.
Donald R. “Mickey” Gaines is being honored with a veterans’ banner by his sister, Alice Gaines White who currently resides in Dallas.
Mickey was a big supporter of Stroud, especially our school system and the Stroud Tigers. We are proud to have Mickey added to our other veterans on Main Street. We hope to have his banner up this week.
The banners will come down the last of November when the City decorates for Christmas but will go back up next April to line our street.
Don’t forget the Stroud Chamber of Commerce’s Main Street Trick or Treat on Friday, October 29th from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. There will be a costume contest at the Route 66 Pavilion immediately after trick or treating.
In conjunction with this activity the Stroud United Pentecostal Church will be hosting Trunk or Treat in their parking lot at 501 West Main Street from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Thank you to these two groups and our local businesses for hosting these activities for our kids.
Thanks again to First Physicians Capital Group for donating the funds to purchase the sunshade in Foster Park.
The Shawnee News-Star even mentioned the sunshade with a picture of the ribbon cutting. Other communities are beginning to notice all the great things going on in Stroud.
Stroud’s newest bank, First Bank & Trust Company, is erecting a massive flag on their property just behind and to the west of the bank.
That will be a wonderful addition to our community. Thanks to First Bank for jumping right in and helping make Stroud the best place it can be.If you haven’t purchased your trick or treat candy yet, be sure and stop in of our local stores and fill up.
What you don’t give away, you can always eat yourself. Have a wonderful week and thanks for choosing to shop local……………… first!
