Lions 47, Red Devils 14

Chandler grabbed the No. 2 spot in District 2A-2 and a home game in the first playoffs by overwhelming short-handed Prague 47-14 Friday night.

The Lions’ win, along with wins by Crossings Christian and Jones, left those three teams tied with 6-1 district records.

They had taken turns beating each other, with Chandler beating Crossings, Crossings beating Jones and Jones beating Chandler, so the tie was broken by margin-of-victory points.

That put Crossings first, Chandler second and Jones third, with Prague finishing fourth.

That means the Lions match up Perry, the No. 3 team in District 2A-1.

Prague will visit Oklahoma Christian for the first round, while Crossings hosts Alva and Jones goes to Luther

For Chandler, the win over Prague was the fifth in a row, following a 2-3 start against five playoff teams and a rash of injuries.

“We’re getting healthy again,” said coach Jack Gray. “We’re still missing some guys, but finishing how we did through the tough road, we had guys stepped up.

“We’ve persevered through lot of stuff, with guys moving into different spots. The quarterback going to receiver, receivers going to different spots, tight ends filling in where they can.

“Playing that tough schedule really helped us, and that’s why we do it. We try to play the best we can because when we get to this point in the season, we’ve seen the best and we’re used to the speed and can play at that high of a level.”

Casmen Hill led Chandler’s offense with 185 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries.

Sophomore Carson Clagg led the defense with 22 tackles, almost a fourth of the team total.
