The Davenport Bulldogs saw their 2024 football season come to an end last Friday, dropping a 52-7 decision to Wilson- Henryetta during a first round playoff contest on the road.
It was the Bulldogs’ 21st consecutive year to make the playoffs, Coach John Greenfield noted.
“We’re ranked 13th in the state in terms of teams making it to the playoffs in consecutive years,” Greenfield said.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 3-8 record.
“They were just too athletic for us. We scored first. Brody Robinson popped a 65-yard run for a score and Mark Mascho booted the extra point and we were up 7-0. But we started making little mistakes after that,” the Hall of Fame coach said.
“We dropped a pass, we let their receivers get behind us, we just couldn’t stop the big play,” Greenfield added.
The coach said, “They have some really good, athletic kids.”
Greenfield commented, “I really enjoyed working with the kids this year. They are a young, sophomore bunch. We just didn’t get the full results we wanted,” he finished.
