A Stroud man who is facing eight felonies following his arrest by officers has been bound over to stand trial.
Formal charges were filed Sep. 24, 2024 in Lincoln County District Court against Acey Ambrose Murphy, 33. He appeared before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk the same day he was charged.
She set his bond at $250,000. He made his initial appearance Sep. 30.
Special Judge Emily Mueller scheduled his preliminary hearing for Dec. 5. On that date, he was bound over. She scheduled his arraignment for 9 a.m. Dec. 10.
Murphy has been previously convicted of six felonies in 2019.
The eight felony counts Murphy now faces include second degree burglary; possess firearm during commission of a felony; tampering with security camera or system; robbery with a firearm; endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police officer; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; possession of firearm after former felony conviction; and possession of stolen vehicle.
In Count 1, Murphy is accused on Sep. 13, 2024 of second degree burglary by breaking and entering into the Route 66 Pawnshop in Chandler owned by Joe Ready, which contained property of value, with the intent to steal it.
Murphy is charged in Count 2 with possessing a firearm on Sep. 13, 2024 during the commission of felony second degree burglary. The information states he specifically had a pistol capable of raising in the mind of one threatened with a device of fear that it was a real firearm.
He is accused in Count 3 of tampering with a security camera or system on the same day while committing second degree burglary.
Count 4 charges him on Sep. 19, 2024 with robbery with a firearm by robbing Phillip Blake and taking and carrying away money that belonged to the Shamrock Convenience store and that was in Blake’s possession without Blake’s consent. The information states Murphy pointed the pistol at Blake putting Blake in fear of immediate and unlawful injury in order to overcome his resistance and rob him of the money.
Count 5 accuses Murphy of endangering others while eluding or attempting to elude police officers Kyle Crow, Memphis Anderson and Andrew Nguyen in the performance of their duties with the Meeker Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Sac and Fox PD by speeding, passing in a no passing zone and driving the wrong way down the highway and endangering numerous other persons who were using those same streets that Murphy was driving his 2005 Honda Pilot at SH 18 and Highway in Lincoln County after those officers had provided visual and audible signals directing him to stop his vehicle.
He is charged in Count 6 with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Sep. 22, 2024 of assaulting Capt. Jimmy Ahrend of the Stroud Police Department with a vehicle intending to harm the police captain.
On Sep. 22, 2024 he is accused in Count 7 of possessing a firearm after former felony conviction by having a pistol after he had been convicted in Lincoln County District Court of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in 2018.
The eighth felony against Murphy accuses him on Sep. 22 of possessing a Honda Pilot he reportedly had stolen from Lan Phu.
Supplemental information filed in the case by Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble shows Murphy was convicted in Lincoln County District Court on Oct. 18, 2019 of the following felonies: Endangering others while eluding police, domestic abuse by strangulation, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of an automobile, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and maiming.
