Wellston man faces two new charges

A Wellston man previously convicted of several felonies faces a new felony and a misdemeanor.

William Lee Willis, 51, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 31, 2025, with domestic assault and battery by strangulation and resisting an officer.

He appeared before Associate District Judge Joe Dobry on March 31 who set his bond at $15,000.

As a stipulation of that bond, he is to have no contact with the victim.

He made his initial appearance on Apr. 10. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 23.

Count 1 accuses Willis of domestic assault and battery by strangulation, a felony, by on March 29, 2025 of strangling or attempting to strangle the victim who was his sister by placing his hands around her neck.

In count 2, Willis is charged on the same day of resisting an officer by obstructing Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Gage Elder and resisting Elder by failing to comply with the officer’s orders.
