Carolyn Maxine (Murray) Mitchell, 77, of Stroud, Oklahoma, passed away on April 20, 2026.
Carolyn was born on September 9, 1947, in Winfield, Kansas, to Woodrow and Maxine Murray. She was a strong, hardworking woman who dedicated many years of her life to the sewing industry, eventually working her way up to supervisor at National Garment in Chandler. She later spent 17 years with Miller Truck Lines before retiring.
Retirement gave Carolyn the chance to enjoy the things she loved most. She and Bill made wonderful memories camping, traveling across the United States, sightseeing, exploring back roads, fishing, gathering with family, watching NASCAR and playing Farkle. She had a deep love for her family and treasured every moment spent with them.And if you knew Carolyn, you knew just how much she loved camping.
She is survived by her brothers, Darrell Murphy of Davenport, Tom and Vickie Murray of Davenport, and Jimmy Ray and Christel Murray of Wichita, KS; her children, Richard Murray, Jr., Carol Ann Crary and husband David, and Jimmy Don Murray and fiancee Lisa; her grandchildren, Tiffany Easley of Stroud, Britton Smith of Grand Prairie, TX, Westley Murray and fiancee Crystal Keeton of Stroud, Aric and Sarah York of Stroud, Katrina and Brad Thompson of Broken Arrow, Marshall and Anna Crary of Bristow, Valerie Crary, Kevyn Crary, Katherine Kent of Yukon, and Nikki White of Sparks; and her great-grandchildren, Chloe Elias of Stroud, Rylee McGlasson of Stroud, Charlotte and Jameson Smith of Grand Prairie, TX, Kailynn Murray of Carney, Xanual, Xaiden and Xoie York of Stroud, Tanner and Conner Thompson of Broken Arrow, Liam and Asher Crary of Bristow, Riley and Henry Jackson of Fort Gibson, Christian, Izzy Kent of Yukon, Layla Gilpatrick of Chandler, Cecilia Garrison of Sparks, and Zoey and Zane Keeton of Stroud. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a lot of dear friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Maxine Murray; her husband of 20 years, Richard Murray, Sr.; her husband of 35 years, Billy Mitchell; her brothers, Leslie Murray and Teddy Lynn Murray; her sisterin-law, Sharon Murray; her grandchildren, Dakota and Makenna Murray; and her great-grandbabies, Eleanor and William Murray
Carolyn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her life was filled with love, laughter, hard work and unforgettable memories. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and in all the lives she touched.
