Anciel William Evans was born on October 9, 1945, in Chandler to William and June (Kitching) Evans. He went home to be with his Lord on January 13, 2020, at his home with his family at his side at the age of 74.
Anciel grew up in Sparks, Oklahoma, until 1965 when he married the love of his life, Darlene Sue Goggin on August
26. To this union, three children were born. He was a mechanic by trade and served on the Wellston Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He was lovingly called ‘Papa’ by all of his grandchildren. He loved his home church, Wellston Assembly of God, where he was a member for over 50 years and served on the board for many years. He always made a point to be at church regardless of his declining health.
Anciel is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Darlene Evans of the home; sons Jeff Evans and wife Dana, Mike Evans and wife Lona, daughter Jana and husband Tanner Wall, all of Wellston; brother Carl Evans and wife Cheryl of Stillwater, six grandchildren, Carrie and Austin Morley, Tanner and Crystal Wall, Jessie Evans, Brandon Evans, Hunter Evans and Tyler Evans all of Wellston; brother-in-law Darrell Goggin and wife Bertha of Midwest City. Anciel had three great-grandchildren who were the lights of his life, his ‘little princess’ Logann and his two ornery boys Boston and Houston. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
“Papa” will be greatly missed by all of his family, church family, and all of those that knew and loved him.
A funeral service was held Friday, January 17, 2020, at Assembly of God Church in Wellston and interment followed at the Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
